We are called to deny ourselves and follow Christ. Even to death, if He leads us there, but whatever He calls us to do is what we should do. Christianity is not a "feel-good" religion, it's a way of life. Jesus expects us to put our own will aside and follow Him. He may not actually call us to be crucified as He was, but he expects us to sacrifice our will, our desires, our family, etc., in order to focus our full attention on Him. If we give up everything to Him in order to serve Him fully, He sometimes turns around and blesses it and gives it back to us better than it was before. But when our hearts are in the place where everything takes second place to His will and His desires for us, then we are right where He wants us.
